Superleague wants independent president

Super League will fight for independent president. Board members believe that the super league definitely needs a president who is not tied to a football team and who could easily win the support of all football teams. This is one of the most important amendments to the Statute, the Governing Council is preparing to submit for consideration at the meeting on Thursday (April, 22). If this change is positively accepted, then the final vote will be in July. So in late July or early August the name of the new president of the super league will become clear.

Whether its current President Nicolas Pateras intends to withdraw from his position is still unknown. Pateras won the elections in early December 2009, after defeating PAE President Ergotelis Apostolos Papoutsakis. Then he took the place of Nikos Tanopoulos who had resigned in early November that year. Many still do not exclude the option if Pateras remains president of Panathinaikos to withdraw from the presidential chair in the Super League...

However, instead of electing independent president the governing board can transfer the responsibilities of the President on the shoulders of the Director General of the Super League. This would also be a guarantee that the strongest managing person is not bound to any of the football teams, but only with his commitment to the league.

Other changes that the governing board will try to pass is to schedule such meetings once in every two, three months (as opposed to once every month as it was until now) as well as choosing people from all football teams, who will represent their team in the Governing Board, at the beginning of the season as opposed to changing them constantly as it was until now. President of the Hellenic Football Federation Sofoklis Pilavios will attend the meeting on Thursday. If the alterations are approved, they will finally be voted during the General Assembly in July.
