live Suspected Ebola case on a ship in Piraeus

The captain of a merchant ship sailing under the Greek flag has alerted the Greek sanitary authorities about a sailor with symptoms of Ebola onboard. The sailor has had a high temperature for four days as well as haemorrhage. According to unconfirmed reports, he is from the Philippines. The ship had set off from Guinea, its final destination being Ukraine and it will berth at Piraeus port late in the afternoon.

The ship is "Magda P" owned by Common Progress and is already in Greek territorial waters. The vessel is loaded with bauxite and it will not berth at Piraeus port but will drop anchor near the port. Trained medical staff will take the sick sailor to a specially equipped room in a hospital in Athens.

The crew members are Filipino and Greek citizens. It is not excluded that the ship be quarantined. Here is the vessel itself:
