The Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece resents a photo that Independent Greeks MP Dimitris Kammenos has uploaded on Facebook, criticizing the demonstrations "We Stay in Europe".
In particular, the organization of Jews in Greece has reacted to the fact that Dimitris Kammenos has used a photo of the entrance to the concentration camp of Auschwitz, on which the words "Arbeit Macht Frei" are replaced by the slogan of all those who declare themselves for keeping Greece in the euro area and the European Union, "We Stay in Europe".
"They say 'We stay in Europe', 'at any cost' they say, 'let’s sign everything', they say. I say 'yes', after they pay the price," Independent Greeks MP wrote below the photo.
"We call on the president of the Greek Parliament and the representatives of all democratic parties to condemn this abusive desecration of the memory of 6 million Jews and all other victims of the Holocaust, because it degrades the fight against fascism and Nazism in Greece", reads the message of the organization of Jews in Greece.
"We should not remain indifferent because if we as a society allowed the historical memory of the Holocaust to be distorted, it would mean reopening the gates of Auschwitz to commit new crimes against humanity", ends the message of the Central Board of Jewish Communities.
The action of the Greek MP provoked reactions abroad too. Hungarian journalist Zoltán Konsitski responded with the following tweet:
