The youth of SYRIZA has announced it will not support the party in the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections. In a message entitled "The bankruptcy of SYRIZA and us against it," the organization's members oppose the third memorandum of economic aid signed by the cabinet of the radical left and the far-right Independent Greeks.
The communication states, "For us the 'new era' entered by SYRIZA is not only a tactical or partial retreat from its initial goals and promises but a strategic loss or, more precisely, a failure."
"Voting on the third memorandum, the active support for it and making it a strategic horizon, the unrestrained attachment to power and the total marginalization and ignorance of the party are the main reasons for this failure and for the fact that we cannot continue to be part of SYRIZA. Nor can we continue to defend the cause of the already mutated SYRIZA continuing a left strategy."
In the absence of a procedure to determine a common position for the members of the Youth of SYRIZA, from now on and in terms of this contradiction (as to what the Youth of SYRIZA is and what the party itself now is) the youth organization has come to an irreversible end."
The members of the organization are strongly opposed to the policy led by SYRIZA. "The agenda of SYRIZA on the eve of the elections, which aims to elect the best governor of memoranda reality and to find progressive reforms (?) in the context of the memorandum does not concern us in any way in terms of the left ideology."
The message is signed by the majority of the members of the organization.
