The radical left party SYRIZA is now the first political power in Greece and is enjoying the trust of 30% of the Greeks, as shown by a VPRC poll for Greece Tomorrow newspaper. Alexis Tsipras's party is 2% ahead of the ruling New Democracy, which collected only 28% of the Greeks' support. Third, as shown by other studies' sociological polls as well, is the nationalist Golden Dawn with 12% approval from the Greeks. Fourth is the socialist PASOK. Former ruling socialists, who are currently also part of the three-party coalition of the government, have collected only 7.5% of the support of the Greeks.
The nationalists from Independent Greeks are right after the socialists with 7% of the respondents' preferences. The Greek Communist Party collected 6% support, and the third party from the ruling coalition, the Democratic Left, is tailing behind with 4% approval. 76% of the respondents believe that Greece is moving in the wrong direction and only 10% are satisfied with the way the country is governed by Antonis Samaras.
85% of the respondents believe that their economic situation has deteriorated compared to last year, while 13% answered that the situation has remained the same. 61% believe that after a year the situation will be even worse and only 14% - that it will improve.
