The most famous Greek model Teo Theodoridis, who is also a winner of the title “the most handsome man on the planet" was sentenced to 18 years in prison for trafficking four kilograms and 160 grams of cocaine from Colombia. The Thessaloniki court acknowledged the insistence of Teodoridis and his lawyer that the accused is drug addicted and the drug was imported for personal use and not for trade, regardless of the doctors’ legal expertise, which claims that the model is not a drug addict. In the event that the medical expertise was adopted Teo’s sentence would be lifetime.
"I guess I will go out of jail after about ten years when I will be 45 years old and I will build a new life. At the age of 45 years it is possible to start over", said from prison for the DownTown magazine the famous model. And he continues: "If I'd received a life sentence I would have been out at the age of 65 when everything would already be over".
As GRReporter already wrote more than a year age Teo Theodoridis was arrested at Sofia airport while trying to go to Dubai with a fake passport. Just a day before this the handsome model slipped from the hands of the police in the Thessaloniki customs office, where in a computer assigned to him were found four kilograms and 160 grams of cocaine. Once the Bulgarian authorities notified their Greek colleagues of the arrest it turned out that the young man is wanted in Greece for very serious charges – drug trafficking and drug dealing. The Greek authorities requested the extradition and their request was satisfied. Teo Theodoridis was brought to the Greek border with black armored jeep, and since then he lies in the Thessaloniki Diavata prison.
"Theo is unrecognizable. He has lost a lot of weight, his appearance is haggard, his eyes are with black circles around them and he has cut his hair very short ", says before the Down Town magazine the former PR agent of the model Yannis Kazanidis. And indeed, his photograph, published by the newspaper “First Topic” is shocking – he doesn’t have the magnificent brittle brown hair, the bright gleam in his eyes has disappeared and, nothing is left from his matcho body with broad shoulders and chiseled abs. Kazanidis who knows the defendant since 2002 is one of the two friends of the model, together with the designer Pantelis Mitsui, who testified before the court.
Under oath Kazanidis says that Theo’s passion for the white powder has been a public secret and therefore his famous PR agent for years refused cooperation with him. After a meeting between the two Teodoridis managed to convince him that he is fighting with his addiction, and that he is determined to anything for the sake of his career. "Theo was a true professional and he was giving his best for his work. But this was only a first impression. When you work a little longer with him you see other things as well. He was disappearing for days and did not appear anywhere because of his coca nights, and when he was appearing again, he did not look well," Yiannis Kazanidis testified in court.
The defense of the handsome Greek was taken by one of the best Athenian lawyers in criminal law Sakis Kehayoglou. From the beginning, he said publicly: "Look at Teo as if you were looking at a sick child, not at a villain". In the court the famous lawyer argued: "Punish him, but do not destroy him". And the judges did just that. They passed on the lightest possible sentence for someone caught with more than 4 kilograms of drug. Sakis Kehayoglou expressed his satisfaction with the sentence, but said he will request further reduction of the sentence in the next court.
And how does Teo Theodoridis himself feel? "I am empty, I can not think, I can not feel, I am guilty before my family and pray to them for forgiveness," says the model Tatiana Stefanidou’s show "It is worth seing". "When did I first tried drugs? I do not remember. Nor do I remember why. It was very long time ago". He acknowledged the difficult fight against drugs and said he is even trying to quit the cigarettes. Now he reads a lot, he reads without stopping. And he writes scripts...
