In a manifesto containing 19 pages stored in a flash drive the terrorist "Group of People’s Fighters" has assumed responsibility for the armed attack against the Embassy of Israel in Athens on 12 December last year. At about 3:00 am, at least three attackers had opened fire with Kalashnikovs at the building and the authorities had found 54 fired cartridges in the area around the Embassy.
The flash drive was in a plastic bag that was in a waste container.
According to sources, an unknown person had telephoned the Greek newspaper "Efimerida ton Sintakton" shortly before midnight, reporting that the envelope with the manifesto was at a specific place on Sinopis Street in the centre of Athens.
The editors of the newspaper informed the police that they had received the specific information and that their representatives had set off to the place but had found nothing.
The anti-terrorist and police teams searched the place last night and found the plastic bag described by the unknown man.
They first took it to the criminal police laboratories to test it for the presence of DNA and fingerprints.
The bag will be opened after the procedure has been completed in order to determine the contents of the manifesto.
