Filippos Niarchos is the eldest son of one of the greatest shipping tycoons in the world for decades and eternal rival of Aristotle Onassis - Stavros Niarchos, who died in 1996.
Filippos is the firstborn son of Stavros Niarchos and Eugenia Livanou. He inherited a large art collection from his father. It was bought in 1957 for $ 3 million from actor Edward Robinson, who needed money to pay for his divorce. The Niarchos family collection includes some of the most recognizable works of art in the world. Reportedly, it is the largest private collection of works by Van Gogh. It includes the Self-Portrait With Bandaged Ear, evaluated at € 100 million.
