The political events in Greece seem to be starting to develop at a rapid pace over the past few hours.

According to the latest information from the Prime Minister's residence Maximou, Alexis Tsipras has ordered the television crews of the state ERT television to be ready at around 8:00 pm. This means that the Prime Minister intends to address the Greek people, most probably in connection with the date of the elections.

The extended government meeting that is expected to make the final decisions on the elections is still underway.

According to iefimerida.gr, the most likely scenario preferred by Alexis Tsipras is for the government to resign in the coming hours and the early elections to take place no later than 20 September.
