Turkey is ready to employ Greek doctors willing to work abroad as announced by Minister of Health Mehmet Muezzinoglu. According to Dogan News Agency, the Minister has stated,
"About 7,000 doctors in Greece are seeking jobs abroad. And we need them. Turkey’s doors are open to Greece’s doctors. I invite them to serve this country and nation with their knowledge."
The Turkish Minister, who was born in the Greek city of Komotini, has acknowledged that Turkey had followed the example of Greece. "But since 2002, Turkey has started to achieve more than Greece," Muezzinoglu added.
According to Irfan Şencen, head of the Health Services Department of the Ministry, currently 24 doctors from Greece are working in Turkish private hospitals. "The medical education in Greece is close to Turkey’s standards. The private sector’s needs can be met by doctors from Greece," said Şencen to Anadolu Agency.
