Greek fashion designers that presented their collections on Spring-Summer 2011 Fashion Week offered elegant colour dresses with sexy naked backs and high-heeled sandals.

For the twelfth time the Athens Technopolis opened its doors between October 13 and 17 for the most demanded Greek designers. Despite the rainy weather and the long queues in front of the hall, we had the chance to enjoy the models of Aslanis, Cathreen Mal, De Light, Giannetos, Kathy Heyndels , Lukas, Samantha Sotos, Panos Apergis, Simeoni, Soo.Katerinalexandraki, Valtadoros, Victoria Kyriakides, Med, Nikos-Takis, Krug8 and the show of fashion design schools.

The photographer George Andonopoulos presented in parallel the Abstracts exhibition of photographs following the light passing through crystals, glass and pieces of ice, which at first glance give the impression of oil paintings in bright colours. In the breaks between the reviews, the audience could visit not only the exhibition, but a boutique offering designer clothes at good prices. The people could sit in the open air in front of the hall and gossip about the latest fashion trends as well as to enjoy the people around in extravagant hairstyles and clothes. All of a sudden the catwalk fashion melts into the street fashion and it gets really difficult to find out whether the girls and boys with backcombed hairs, asymmetrically shaved heads, high-heeled platforms, short skirts giving a sense of quick-tailoring, tulle and wacky accessories have not just come out from a photo session.

But how designers see the upcoming 2011 spring-summer? According to Michalis Aslanis, women are wearing sheer dresses falling around the body in iridescent pastel colours. The MED branded lingerie of Christ Hadzivasiliu presents an aggressive collection for both sexes as men are like gladiators, while women remind Daryl Hannah in her role in Kill Bill. Perverse, strong makeup and dressed in lace lingerie or linen fabrics in shiny red and black, or leopard patterns, blindingly blond or raven black hairs. Briefs are edged in golden or dark blue.

The Australian Samantha Sotos, who has a boutique in downtown Athens, imagines elegant women in comfortable and airy dresses. An interesting accessory she offers is hand-along bracelets with long fringes. Her shoes are splendid sandals - high-heeled or platform with front ribbons in vivid colours. And speaking of colours - her 2011 spring-summer vision is coloured in yellow, turquoise, coral, gray and pink in combination with gold - a belt or sleeved bracelet of golden fringes.

DELIGHT designer duo’s fresh collection brings surfing breeze and is full of variety of clothing prints in bright blue, yellow, white. Women are natural with loose or plaited hair with a weave of colour lock. Men are also cool in jackets and shorts in dark blue or pink, so striped that make you feel they have just come out of the hotel room to a beach in Malibu and go for an evening shot by the sea.

Nikos-Takis show inspired by India and the East put an end to the Greek Fashion Week. The audience definitely liked his evening dresses with naked backs and woven Swarovsky gems. Despite the pouring Sunday evening rain, people waited not so patiently in front of the hall and the invitations handed were 200 more than the seats in the hall. Nikos-Takis presented an elegant collection of lingerie, wedding and evening dresses and his show began with Lady Gaga’s dynamic hit Alexandro.
