Two illicit arms dealers, aged 40 and 42, members of an international criminal network, have been arrested in Attica. According to the police, since 2006 the gang has been selling weapons in the territory of Athens and the island of Evia.
As becomes clear from the investigation, conducted in cooperation with customs authorities at Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos", the detainees have imported into Greece by air parcels from the U.S.A, Germany and Hong Kong, combat shotguns, machine guns, pistols, revolvers, various caliber cartridges, electroshock weapons (Tasers), anaesthetic sprays and other parts of firearms.
The police are still searching for three Greeks and 11 foreigners (six U.S. residents, three Germans, one Australian and one Canadian) against whom pre-trial procedures have been filed.
The following was found and seized in 10 parcels, checked in Khalkis, Athens and Argos, as well as in the searched home in Khalkis:

- Sterling submachine gun, 9 mm
- two combat rifles
- 26 pistols
- a sound suppressor
- four revolvers
- a gas gun, 9 mm
- a pistol (replica)
- three defensive grenades MKZ
- two metal matrices
- 18 metal cartridges for weapons
- 76 bullets, calibre 9 mm
- 15 bullets, calibre 7.65 mm
- 57 bullets for gas pistols
- 11 triggers for guns with respective barrels
- a trigger mechanism for GLOCK17 pistol
- four pistol barrels
- a laser sight
- seven electroshock weapons (TASERS)
- 12 anaesthetic sprays
- a number of parts for firearms and combat rifles.
The detainees were taken to the prosecutor, and after charges had been laid, they were sent to an investigator.
