Two killed and four injured in a crash on the Athens - Lamia highway

Two people died and four were injured in a serious accident at the 37th kilometre of the Athens - Lamia highway.

According to the Traffic Police, the accident had occurred while a heavy truck was trying to overtake another truck in the lane to Lamia. He entered the lane in the middle of the road and brought down a light pole. Upon falling in the opposite lane, the pole dropped down on a passing car with five people in it.

Two of them died on the spot and the injured are in George Genimatas Hospital in Athens. Their condition is not considered serious.

Shortly after the crash, the traffic in this section of the highway was hampered in both directions.
