While Buckingham Palace do not officially disclose where they will spend their honeymoon William and Catherine, in Greek and British media spread the speculation that the family will visit the birthplace of the grandfather Prince Philip. The honeymoon for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will only last two weeks and the new family wants to keep it away from worldly eyes. This however, in no way reduces media interest in the event, but on the contrary. The ideas for destinations are so many that the couple can hardly fit them in two weeks, even if they decide to spend them just on the road.
One of the real possibilities is the Greek island of Corfu, where the beloved grandfather of William - Prince Philip is from, and where his godfather the former Greek king Constantine has a big mansion. There certainly the newlyweds will be strictly guarded from the cameras of the cheeky paparazzi. Philip is part of the Greek royal family, he was born on the Ionian island on June 10, 1921 and was the fourth son of the Greek King George the First and Queen Olga. In 1947 he married Elizabeth II and received the title Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Philip is known for his raunchy sense of humor and his numerous blunders caused by his exuberant language. About the wedding ceremony yesterday the British media wrote that the palace protocol requested that his microphone was switched off, so as not to create opportunities for gaffes. Anyway, Philip offended enough the parental couple Middleton by reminding them of their mining origin during the private lunch, which Queen Elizabeth organized for the future father and mother-in-law of her beloved grandson William a few days before the wedding.
As GRReporter wrote, other representatives of the Greek royal family were also represented at the celebrations for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The plain unobtrusive presence of the former Greek king Constantine and his wife Anna-Maria was observed both in Westminster Abbey and at the royal receptions and celebrations after the wedding, and the smiles of the former monarch and his wife did not leave the faces. Constantine’s sister and Queen of Spain Sofia was literally glowing in the company of her son Prince Felipe and her daughter-in-law Letizia. Sofia was in a purple dress and the rose colored garments of Letizia earned her a place among the most elegant ladies in this memorable day.
There with her competed Marie-Chantal, the beautiful wife of the Greek Crown Prince Pavlos, who had also chosen soft earth tones for the royal wedding. The dazzling couple without any concern posed for photojournalists at the entrance of the formal dinner before the wedding organized by Lady Elizabeth Anson in honor of the British royal family and the foreign aristocrats. Lady Anson is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and was hired by William and Kate to arrange their wedding ceremonies.
