A young woman was pulled dead from the sea near Galazio, on the island of Samos. The boat, in which the migrants were travelling, crashed into the rocks as they were trying to arrive on dry land. Another four refugees are being sought, and 13 have been rescued.

The Coast Guard, private vessels and divers are carrying out searches at sea. It is a rocky area and winds of up to 6 Beaufort are whipping up the waters.

Later today, divers recovered ten more victims from inside the sunken boat – four babies, four women and two children. Another two passengers are being sought, and the number of rescued has reached 15.

Another incident took place north of Farmakonisi near Turkish territorial waters. 15 were travelling in a boat. Three of them were rescued, and two were found dead. Gale-force winds are lashing the area.

A rescue operation for about 150-200 refugees and immigrants has been launched around Rhodes. The vessel they were traveling in was large and in good condition. It is now stuck about 30 metres from the cliffs near the town of Rhodes.

Two migrants, a girl of 11 months and a 50-year-old man were shipped to hospital.

3,337 migrants in two ferries are expected today at Piraeus. ''Eleftherios Venizelos'' is carrying 2,495 refugees from Mytilene, and ''Nisos Rhodes'' – another 842 from Chios and Mytilene.

The weather in the Aegean is deteriorating. The Rio-Antirio line is closed. Departures are banned from the ports of Rafina and Lavrio. The lines out of Piraeus port are still functioning.

The Alexandroupolis-Samothrace line is open. But the lines from Volos to the Sporades Islands and from Keramoti and Kavala to Thassos have been suspended.

Meanwhile, in Kastanies, Evros district, about 500 young people participated in a protest against the fence along the border. When they approached the fence in an attempt to cross the border, the police intervened using tear gas.

The young crowd descended upon Kastanies from Athens, Thessaloniki and other cities by bus and car. Their key demands are the dismantling of the fence, so that refugees are allowed to cross freely, and giving entry permits to immigrants.

Various organisations are taking part in the campaign against the fence, such as the Together Against Racism movement, the Anti-Racist Initiative and the Anarchist Movement from Thessaloniki, a group of lawyers involved in defending the rights of refugees and immigrants, etc.
