Merkel's suggestion for a referendum has intensified the anti-German leanings in Greece and many of the political forces considered her suggestion a rude interference in the internal affairs of the country.
During his visit to Athens, President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz was adamant that there is no possibility of renegotiating the memorandum.
