From early 2014 up to the end August, 22,089 people arrived in the country, while last year the number was around 11,500. In September alone 8,000 people arrived.
This ageing of population characteristic of all western countries is due on the one hand to an increase in life expectancy and, on the other hand, to increasingly low birth rates.
