After the shocking demise of its election marriage with SYRIZA, the Democratic Left is now discussing the possibility of a joint campaign with the environmentalists of Nikos Chrysogelos. DIMAR’s secretary general Thanasis Theoharopoulos is meeting Chrysogelos today.
The meetings of DIMAR’s Central Committee today and over the weekend are awaited with interest for possibly shedding light on the reasons that led to the suspension of ties with SYRIZA.
The atmosphere at DIMAR’s headquarters is rather tense, with the party being split both in its parliamentary group and across its chapters throughout Greece. Under such circumstances, DIMAR’s independent participation in the elections seems extremely difficult.
