The traffic on highways, ports, airports, train stations and bus stations increased dramatically and it was recorded that only on Great Thursday around 180 000 cars had left Athens. The toll stations at Elefsina, Afidnon and Zevgolatiou were blocked as a result of the traffic.
Kilometric lines were formed also this morning on Zevgolatiou, Elefsina, Shimatariou, and Afidnon and passing through the Artemisiou tunnel was hard. The road between Inofita and Shimatari on the Athens-Thessaloniki highway is under construction and drivers need to be very careful.
Traffic is heavy on both main highways but smaller roads are not less of a hassle. As an example we can tell you that at 12:30 pm the car queue on Elefsina was 5 kilometers. The Zevgolatiou toll station near Korinthos the queue was 7 kilometers and from time to time cars were let free, in order to lighten up the traffic.
